When you are packing your house to put everything you own into storage, the process can be difficult. If you aren't careful, you can end up with a storage unit filled with items you have no idea how to find. Also, moving out of your house can be difficult if you don't take the right steps. Follow all the help offered in this article to make the entire packing process better for you and your family.

Make a packing chart when you are putting your things into boxes

As you are packing up the boxes, write each item you put into them in a notebook. Next to the contents for each separate box, give it a letter and a number. The letter will signify which room it came out of and the number will signify the individual box. This will help you keep the items from each room together. For example, everything out of the master bedroom may be in boxes marked A1 through A12 and everything from the kitchen may be in boxes C1 through C7 and so on.

When you need to find one item, you can go through the notebook and look for that item. Then, take note of the letter and number for that box and find it in your storage unit. If you pack the unit with the boxes from each room all together, then it will be even easier to find the right box. You will be able to find the box by going right to the section of the unit that's housing the boxes from that room.

Take pictures of certain items

If you are going to be packing some of your items in black bags or in other containers you can't label, then pictures can help you find those items easily later on. Print out pictures of those items and tape the pictures directly to the outside of the bags and other containers, so you can see what's inside of them easily. This is also a good way to make sure fragile items are easily recognizable as being extremely breakable.

Pack the unit like a store

When you put your things into the storage unit, line the three back walls with your larger items, such as furniture, your refrigerator, etc. Then, pack rows of boxes with the rows being as tall as is safe and secure. Leave a space between each one that's large enough for you to fit through, so you can walk between each row. This is going to make it so much easier for you to get at anything you may need.

Hire a home clean out specialist

Once you have packed all your items, hire someone else to come out to deal with the rest, like those from Seaside Junk Haulers & Movers LLC. A home clean out specialist will come out and take care of junk removal for you, so you don't have to worry about that part, on top of everything else you have going on.

Now that you know how to pack your unit so you can get at your things later on, you won't find yourself dreading the task.
